When you decide to buy new equipment you need to first ask yourself a few things in order to select the best fit for your fleet. With so much equipment available nowadays you need to narrow down your options and invest in the right solutions. We leave you here some tips you need to consider before the final decision:
1. What’s your application?
Please remember each machine has a different role in your project. On the other hand you need that your acquisition be the right fit for your fleet and not the opposite. Buying the right machine you guarantee the perfect marriage for your fleet and from it you improve the efficiency and productivity of your projects. Don’t pull the break on your productivity buying a piece that doesn’t fit correctly in your puzzle.
2. The right size
Keep your production calculations next to you when you choose your next used equipment. You know that a excavator has to load your truck with 4 to 6 buckets and a wheel loader has to do it with 2 to 3 buckets, with more loads you will be increasing the cycle times, increasing your costs and reducing the productivity of your operation. Often the purchase looks perfect but the size doesn't, think about your projects first and then adapt your decision to what you really need. Also think on your future projects when you choose your used machine.
3. Work site conditions
Consider the environment in which you’ll be operating your machine. Consider the typical job sites you usually work on and what features your equipment needs to run successfully. Think about climate and terrain conditions. The job site’s terrain will determine whether you need tracks or wheels on your machines.
4. Find the right machine for your attachment
Work tools attachments provide you versatility to your equipment, allowing you to accomplish more production in less time. Before making that decision of buying, be sure that the model you’re looking at is compatible with the types of attachments you’ll be running. You’ll also need to think ahead about what work tool attachments you may need for future projects as your business grows.
5. Equipment condition
When buying a used equipment, make sure it is still in excellent condition. Buying from a reliable provider gives you the confidence you need to be sure you’re doing the right investment. Ask for an inspection and if available ask for an extended coverage of 6 or 12 months which is an extra value to keep your costs under control.
